Training in jiu-jitsu is great, and it’s the obvious first step when entering the sport. If you are going to take your training seriously though, you need to compete.
Why? For starters, competition drives success. It provides you with motivation to keep going, highlights your strengths, and exposes your weaknesses. In all aspects of life, competition breeds innovation and improvement, and jiu-jitsu is no exception.
Second, competing in jiu-jitsu is a confidence boost. Winning shows that your training has paid off, and even if you lose, you will walk away having done something you may have once only dreamed about.
